[test] Improve run_example_tests. NFC (#8918)

Use unique names for object files as well as output files.

Because we are writing the files to the out/test directory no need to
clean them up after.   Better to leave them around for future
inspection.

Also, rename `extra` to `compile` since this is the compile command for
the object file.
