Merge PR #930: restore documented caveman --version

Adds the documented top-level --version alias, proves byte-equality with caveman version, and bumps the immutable npm package to 1.3.1 after the 1.3.0 smoke caught the defect. Full CLI suite and all required CI checks pass.
