refactor: clean up and deduplicate rust and crane usage

- removed stable toolchain
- add withBuilddTarget helper for building with non-standard build
  target (i.e. wasm32-unknown-unknown)
- addressed various clippy lints
- removed rust-toolchain.toml, all toolchain configuration now done
  in nix directly
- various other small changes and fixes
